Hectic 2 Days!

It was back to work yesterday with a two hour day. This week is already over. I'm trying to get the missed reading lessons in so I'm in sync with the SRA calendar. It really makes for a hectic day. It's too cold for the students to go outside for recess. I really need to find some exercise type videos for indoor recess. I usually pull up united streaming and play "Rainy Day Recess" but I'm getting tired of it.

I have another website to share and this one has other sites to check out along with video tutorials. I highly recommend checking this one out and saving it to your favorites!!! http://www.teachertrainingvideos.com/ .

Stay tuned and T.G.I.F. !!!

SNOW DAYS!!!

It was a nail biting Sunday night with the kids waiting to hear the official word on "to school or not to school". We knew we had a 2 hour delay but it was followed by a "stay tuned, check the news to find out if school is cancelled."

I woke up an hour later than I usually do and checked the news.........WOO HOO ~ NO SCHOOL TODAY! So I did what any tired mother/1st grade teacher would do.........rolled back over, snuggled in my big comfy bed and caught some more zzzzzzzzzzz's!

When I woke up (we'll keep that number unlisted ) all was quiet in the house. Not a kid in sight nor earshot. They were at the neighbor's house across the street sledding and had been there for a while. I made hot chocolate, started a fire and began boiling chicken for my chicken & dumplings. I was preparing for 2 cold and hungry kids!

I decided to check out Tagxedo, a website my mom mentioned this weekend when we were over at her house making pizzas :0). It's a neat website that makes word clouds. Here is the link-> http://www.tagxedo.com/. (It did require a microsoft silverlight download.) I'll have to get the tech guy to install it at school. I think this will be a useful tool for all kinds of word lists. I made a word cloud for the reading unit we are currently covering.

It was a nice relaxing but very cold day. The best part is that I get to do it all again tomorrow! Yep, schools will be closed again!!!
